Overview

Nitrile gloves keep your hands from becoming a contamination vector. Bare hands carry oils, skin flakes and spores that will land in an open jar. Gloves also protect you from alcohol, lime and the hot surfaces you work around — and they let you work in a still-air box without shedding particles.

Safety & handling

Nitrile gloves are not heat resistant. Do not reach into a warm pressure cooker or touch a freshly flamed tool while wearing them — they melt on contact.

Practical advice

Wipe the glove palms with alcohol as often as you would wipe a surface. Contamination usually enters a jar on a fingertip, not through the air.
