About Mycelium Works
Mycelium Works is an independent, educational resource for people learning to grow mushrooms at home. We publish tool guides, calculators and long-form growing articles — and we sell nothing.
Why this site exists
Most cultivation information online is written to sell equipment. That is a conflict of interest in a hobby where the equipment is the thing being discussed.
This site is written the other way round. We describe what a tool is for, what to look for when choosing one, how to use it, and where it commonly goes wrong. There are no product links, no referral codes, and no shop.
How we write
Every guide is written from the perspective of the process, not the product. A guide to a pressure cooker starts with why 121 °C matters and only then discusses the cooker itself.
We aim to be specific. Ranges, target numbers and observable signals are more useful than general encouragement, and a grower can act on them.
What we will not do
We do not publish fabricated reviews, invented certifications, or testimonials from people who do not exist. We do not guarantee yields — biological systems do not work that way, and the calculators on this site say so explicitly.
We do not encourage foraging or eating wild mushrooms. That is not because foraging is inherently wrong, but because identification errors are frequently fatal and no website can substitute for a qualified local expert.

No advertising relationships with equipment makers, and no commercial stake in what you buy.
Honest about uncertainty
Where results vary, we say so. Every yield figure on this site carries a range and a caveat.
Safety stated plainly
Spore exposure, ventilation and food handling are covered wherever they matter, not buried in a disclaimer.
