Overview

A humidity tent is a translucent plastic enclosure that traps moisture around the substrate while still allowing some gas exchange through vent holes. It is the simplest way to hold the high humidity fruiting bodies need without investing in a full fruiting chamber. Airflow matters as much as humidity, so tents need deliberate venting.

Placed over colonised blocks once pinning begins.

Safety & handling

A sealed tent with no venting becomes a CO₂ trap and produces long, thin stems that never mature properly. Always keep the vents open and fan twice a day.

Practical advice

Mist the walls of the tent, not the blocks themselves. Direct water on developing pins causes them to abort and turn brown.
