Overview

A small fan moves air across the fruiting chamber, replacing CO₂ with fresh oxygen and keeping condensation from settling into pools. Fresh air exchange is what triggers normal cap development, and it strengthens stems so mushrooms stand upright rather than stretching toward a vent. Movement should be gentle, not a blast.

Safety & handling

Never blow air directly onto fruit bodies. A direct stream desiccates them at the point of contact and causes cracking and premature drying.

Practical advice

Aim the fan at a wall of the chamber rather than at the mushrooms. The reflected, dissipated airflow gives you exchange without the drying effect.
